Martin Johnson is a strategic advisor with experience in corporate strategy, strategic partnerships, acquisitions, and capital allocation. He advises founders, CEOs, boards, and investors on significant business decisions involving growth, partnerships, and transactions.
He founded Anchor Advisory to provide independent strategic advice to leadership teams evaluating opportunities, acquisitions, partnerships, and other decisions that shape long-term enterprise value.
Previously, Martin served as Head of Corporate Development at CoStar Group, where he worked closely with executive leadership and the board on acquisitions, growth initiatives, and long-term strategic priorities. During his tenure, he led more than 25 acquisition processes and completed nine domestic and international acquisitions, including Homes.com, Ten-X, and Smith Travel Research (STR). The opportunities evaluated represented more than $10 billion in potential transaction value and provided experience in both executing acquisitions and determining when opportunities should not proceed.
Earlier in his career, Martin held leadership roles at Visa across strategy, business development, and strategic partnerships. His work focused on building and expanding relationships with financial institutions, technology companies, and other strategic partners across global markets.
Martin began his career in strategy and operations consulting at Deloitte, advising financial institutions and other large organizations on growth, operations, and strategic initiatives.
Throughout his career, Martin has worked with public companies, founder-led businesses, and private equity-backed portfolio companies. He is known for combining rigorous analysis with practical judgment, asking difficult questions when necessary, and identifying risks before they become obstacles to achieving strategic objectives.
